| | What is Community-Based-Instruction? Community-Based Instruction is not a field trip. Community-Based Instruction is not simply exposure to the community it is an educational program included within the community. Community-Based-Instruction is an individualized instruction program. The targeted skills will focus on community and job development. The individual needs will be identified by evaluation of students' individual needs, recommendations can be made by the students themselves, their parents/guardians, and teachers. Community sites are evaluated on a regular basis in order to provide meaningful instruction for the intended skills. Instructional procedures are determined prior to entering community sites. Modifications to sites, are made as appropriate, opportunities are also made available for reinforcement and maintenance of the mastered skills within the classroom setting.
